Terry Wildfong- Certified Sci\ART™ Personal Color Analysis Instructor
"What we look for in our instructors is a love of color, of course, but also a love of teaching others. Terry has both, and we are delighted to have her present our training program."
-Kathryn Kalisz, Founder, Sci\ART Global
Terry Jo Wildfong has studied and performed color analysis since 1983. She has also been a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant since 1993. Mrs.Wildfong was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, but was raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, since age two. She is the mother of one daughter, Tiffany, and was married to her husband Mike in 2006.
Terry’s interest in color led her to study the color analysis teachings of Carole Jackson (Color Me Beautiful), Bernice Kentner (Color Me A Season), and Kathryn-Kalisz-Donovan (Sci\Art).
Beginning in October, 2005, Terry began teaching three-day accredited workshops to train students in the science of color and color analysis for Sci\Art several times each year. She currently performs color analysis through her business, The Image Advantage, and periodically has speaking engagements for workshops and seminars on personal color and image topics.
Terry Jo Wildfong - PROFESSIONAL STATEMENT
I have always been interested in color. As a young girl, I loved my boxes of 64 crayons for coloring. Autumn is my favorite season due to the beautiful changing of tree colors we experience here in Michigan. In 1983, I had my personal color analysis done and purchased all four seasonal palettes because I was very interested in the differences between them and why they were arranged in this particular fashion. I further studied the "Color Me Beautiful" book and periodically performed color analysis on clients.
In 1993, I became a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant, learning more about the art of skin care and cosmetic application. The following year, I purchased a deluxe color analysis home-study course from Bernice Kentner (Color Me A Season) in California who authored several books and created training materials for students interested in the art of personal color analysis. Through further study and years of experience, I became proficient in my ability to place a client correctly in one of the four seasons, teaching the clients how to use their colors to their best advantage for their wardrobes and cosmetics.
In 2003, while perusing the internet to learn more about color analysis, I found Kathryn Kalisz-Donovan’s website at Sci\Art. After reading her book, "Understanding Your Color," I realized that this was the piece that had been missing in the traditional four-seasonal color analysis approach. Kathryn’s book explained the “science” of color and how she bases her 12-tone color analysis approach on the Munsell three-dimensional color-space theory, which is the world standard on how all color is categorized. I purchased materials from Sci\Art and began using this 12-tone approach.
In 2005, I attended Sci\Art's workshops to increase my learning and more fully understand this 12-tone analysis. I was so fascinated by this approach and totally believed in the science of this program, that I became Kathryn’s intern and learned how to teach the science of color and color draping workshops to students wanting to learn this trade. I now hold periodic three-day accredited workshops for this purpose for Sci\Art.
I have two goals in the field of color. One is to provide my personal clients with information about color, determine their personal color palette, and teach them how to use their colors to purchase clothing and cosmetics to look and feel their best everyday. The other goal is to teach students both the science and importance of color and train them how to use this information personally for themselves and in their fields of business.
A Testimonial By A Student of Terry's:
Terry is a fabulous instructor, providing a fun and relaxed atmosphere for learning. The training covered everything I needed to know to visually color analyze a client successfully, and she has a way of making even the most complex concepts understandable. The hands on part of the training was especially thorough, completely covering the whole process of color analysis with all the Sci/Art tools, starting with the hand boards all the way through to the final Oh and Ah Luxury Draping Session. Terry is also extremely knowledgeable about cosmetics application and that information will be very helpful as I begin my career in color analysis.
