Empower your color choices.

Learn the secrets of color mixing and matching

The impact of color is inescapable. It is the visual element human beings always perceive first. Your paintings, designs, layouts, compositions, and interiors have the best chance of reaching their fullest potential when the colors are "right".

What if you could understand the nature of color so clearly that you could achieve any effect you desire? Now, you can.

See color in a whole new light

When you attend Color Mixing and Matching, a three-day workshop led by Kathryn Kalisz, master colorist and fine artist, you will be able to do just that. In fact, you will get answers to questions about color mixing you didn’t even know you had.

Create pure, satisfying hues

The only way to truly understand color is to create it. That's the premise of this workshop, and why you can count on an intimate setting and a maximum of eight participants. For three days, you will have Kathryn's undivided attention, as she expertly guides your work with color at its most fundamental level. Once Kathryn presents her eye-opening and entirely repeatable method of creating pure and luminous colors, you may wonder how you ever tolerated the frustration of a trial-and-error approach. By the end of this workshop, you will know how to create and duplicate every color in your world - with confidence.

Acquire highly coveted color knowledge

Of course, in order to create color, you must first be able to understand its true nature. Without a doubt, this is where the ultimate value in attending this workshop can be found: Kathryn has devised an uncomplicated process for achieving controlled and deliberate color mixing and matching results. You will benefit from her years of experience as a Munsell colorist and her first-hand knowledge of scientific color principles, and you aren't likely to find such a comprehensive foundation in a traditional art or design school. In fact, most schools view this as specialized knowledge, and don't cover it in their programs at all.

Build custom colors—and your confidence

Kathryn's methods are so clear that you will actually have more time to maintain your creative focus. Whether you are already working with color for artistic, aesthetic or design purposes, or just starting out, this workshop will make it virtually impossible for you to slump into worry that you lack the true ability to mix and match colors in the way you envision.

Step into your creative footprint

n the fine art world as in industry, it is your creativity that sets you apart. In this workshop, you will learn why it can be counterproductive - even discouraging - to attempt to emulate the color work of another. If you would rather devote more time to manifesting your creative ideas than guessing at which hues to mix to achieve a desired effect, this workshop is for you. After all, it is rarely the number of hours you spend that determines whether people remember your work.

Where color harmony fits in

Before you know it, you will also begin to understand how harmonious color palettes can be created "from scratch". You can experiment with this independently after the workshop, or, for in-depth learning and an advanced practicum of color exercises guided by Kathryn, see the next workshop in this series, Color Harmony. *Note: to ensure complete continuity of learning and skill level among participants, Color Mixing and Matching I is a prerequisite.

Who should attend

This workshop is for architects, faux finishers, fine artists, graphic designers, interior designers, interior painters, image consultants, landscape designers, make-up artists, photographers, stylists, textile designers, web designers ... and anyone else who works with color to meet an artistic, aesthetic or design objective and wants to enhance their ability to make skillful choices and recommendations.

What you will learn

  • A highly reliable and efficient roadmap for mixing the colors you want
  • A method of mixing and matching that will eliminate guess work and costly mistakes
  • A method that will enable you to more precisely achieve the color tones you envision
  • A thought process for identifying how much pigment or dye - and which pigment or dye - is needed
  • A way to identify "what's missing" or "what's needed" to produce the color effect you desire
  • How to work with paint colors to hone your color visioning, mixing and matching skills
  • A color language for communicating the thinking behind your recommendations

  • A framework for expanding into color harmony, where you can create endless color combinations that are beautiful and original
  • How to achieve the color you desire without overusing black, which can have a dulling effect
  • How to gain inspiration from the world around you, by having the tools to recreate those colors for yourself

This course will benefit people of all experience levels

WHAT OTHER STUDENTS HAVE SAID:

"I have a reasonably good sense of colors and what blue to mix with what yellow to get a beautiful green, but never understood why it worked in the way it does. I look at colors in a whole new light, and as a silk painter, it has enhanced both the quality of my work, as well as the enjoyment I receive from better color work."

"I am familiar with the other kinds of color training that is out there and in my opinion, what you are offering is the most essential and valuable. You have given me a great launching pad from which I can build my knowledge and expertise in any number of specialties where color choices not only need to be made, but made in a way that enhances and exalts the work that is being done."

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Kathryn L. Kalisz, CEO and founder of Sci\ART Global, LLC, has dedicated her life to the study of color, its use, and its affect on human beings. As an artist, colorist and writer, she has achieved international acclaim. Since launching Sci\ART Company in 2000, her business growth has doubled annually and her teachings, products, and services are now offered around the world.

Kathryn was included in the "Who's Who of American Women," 2000-2001, Millennium Edition for her innovative work as an artist, colorist and teacher. Her passion for color, nature, and abstract design is evident in her paintings in oil, watercolor and acrylics. Her recent book, "Understanding Your Color - A Guide to Personal Color Analysis" is recognized by image professionals as "the best on the market" in this field, and will soon be available in four languages. This book is the culmination of Kathryn's love of color and her unique knowledge of color's relationship to the human being.

Kalisz was influenced by the work of two great colorists, Johannes Itten (1888-1967), and Albert H. Munsell (1858-1918). Itten was known as one of the greatest teachers of the art of color, and Munsell is known for his Munsell Color System, now the world's standard for color communication. Employed as a Munsell colorist in the 1980's, Kathryn became fascinated by the science of color. Her continual interest in the humanities also compelled her studies in psychology, and ultimately led her to realize the purpose of color in our world and in the lives of human beings.

Kathryn teaches that beauty presents itself as one unified whole. Developing harmony between our inner being and our outer appearance creates the essence of genuine and holistic beauty. In his time, Johannes Itten stressed the importance of understanding this harmony and used the term "subjective timbre," or personal tone, to describe this unity.

Transforming Itten's theory of subjective timbre into a modern-day science, Kathryn has developed her highly sought-after instructional program for fashion and image consultants around the globe. Her teachings of human coloration and innate personality traits bring unsurpassed beauty and self-awareness to individuals from every race and culture. She teaches the art of color in such a way that her courses offer a life-changing experience to her students.

Sci\ART Global, LLC specializes in the field of color and provides state-of-the-art personal color analysis education and support, equipment and supplies, client literature and products to those who would like to offer personal color analysis to their clientele. Understanding that health and beauty are inseparable, Sci\ART is also a modern innovator in the field of color and light therapy.

Born in St. Mary's, Pennsylvania, Kathryn L. Kalisz currently resides in Brooksville, Florida, USA. She is the mother of three daughters and the grandmother of one. Kathryn is a member of the International Association of Colour, and the Association of Image Consultants International (AICI).
