THE GLORY OF GREEN

The secret of health, youth, and longevity?

Some doctors feel they should take up golf because they find some of their healthiest patients are golfers. Is it the fresh air and sunshine? Or could it be the green?

Our life and health depend on neurotransmitters in the brain and hormones. Light, traveling through the eyes influences everything in the brain, especially neurotransmitters and the hormonal system. Researchers are currently conducting experiments with light therapy as it concerns neurotransmitters and hormones in the human body.

Growth hormone, as its name implies, is necessary for human growth. In the past, it was believed that after the age of eighteen, we no longer needed growth hormone. However, it has been discovered that when human growth hormone production stops, aging rapidly begins. Thus, the lack of the production of growth hormone is a major contributor to aging.

Injections of growth hormone are available that actually reverse many of the effects of human aging. Giving growth hormone causes the skin to get thicker, the subcutaneous fat to increase and the amount of muscle mass to increase. However, there are things we can do to stimulate growth hormone in our bodies throughout life naturally. One is to be outside in natural light, another is to get physical exercise, and another is to get an adequate amount of sex. Another is green light therapy.

Many holistic physicians are recommending the use of green light when adequate amounts of sunshine are not available. Experiments with colored light therapy have shown that growth hormone increases are greater with green light than with other colors tested, namely red and violet. In fact, tests show that green light entering the eyes increased the production of growth hormone in 50% of the test cases.

Is being "on the green" a secret to better health, vitality, and longevity? Probably so.
