The Munsell Color System - Hands On
A color system is a collection of all possible colors arranged so that the relationships among them can be recognized and understood. There have been many color order systems throughout the years, but none have been accepted so widely or used as long as the Munsell Color System.
Within the Munsell Color System, each color has a logical relationship to all other colors. This leads to endless creative possibilities in color choices, as well as the ability to precisely communicate these choices.
Artists and designers use the Munsell Color System to create a color scheme or harmony that helps strengthen the message and image they are communicating. With its systematic approach to color space, the Munsell Color system allows artists and designers to capture the color palette that is needed to create the impact desired by today's consumers. An understanding of the Munsell Color System is a must for any serious artist, colorist or designer.
This course, instructed by the artist and former Munsell colorist, Kathryn Kalisz, offers a thorough hands-on study of the Munsell Color System.

- American National Standards Institute
- Japanese Industrial Standard for Color
- German Standard Color System
- Several British national standards
