The Color Blue and the Human Being

Blue is the purest, coolest and deepest color of the spectrum and stands for rest, relaxation, sleep, regeneration and communication. Blue decreases blood pressure and heart rate, dissolves nervousness and stress and has a very calming effect on the entire organism. It is very effective in the treatment of headaches and sleep disorders. Blue is also a highly effective color for meditation, communication, spiritual growth and high mental qualities. Blue will help bring about the expression of one's creative power while bringing the individual to a state of peace and holistic balance.

Thyroid gland: Related organs/systems

- Its hormones help to regulate the body’s metabolism. It influences digestion, heart rate, cholesterol level, muscle strength and mental state.
Possible diseases/disorders resulting from thyroid gland malfunction:
- Hyperthyroidism – too much thyroid is produced usually from Grave’s disease (autoimmune disease - when the immune system attacks the thyroid) and can lead to osteoporosis, atrial fibrillation or a life threatening condition known as thyroid storm.
- Hypothyroidism – too little thyroid is produced due to autoimmune thyroiditis (autoimmune disease), radiation treatment of the thyroid and removal of the thyroid. Not treating this condition can lead to depression, lethargy, fatigue, problems with memory, dry skin, constipation, etc.
Parathyroid gland: Related organs/systems
- Four small glands located beside or rooted in the thyroid gland.
- The hormones it produces help to regulate the metabolism of phosphorus and calcium.
Possible diseases/disorders resulting from parathyroid gland malfunction:
- Hypoparathyroidism – not enough parathyroid hormone exists in the body. This condition can lead to an unusually low calcium level in the blood (hypocalcaemia) which can cause a number of unpleasant and uncomfortable symptoms including headaches, weakness, muscle cramps, nervousness, and feet, hand, arm or face spasms.
- Hyperparathyroidism – the opposite of hypoparathyrodism; when too much of the parathyroid hormone exists in the body. This can cause hypercalcemia, hyperplasia and autonomously functioning adenomas.
