The Color Orange and the Human Being

Orange is used as a stimulant to the emotional center, to bring about a renewed sense of enthusiasm for life and to tap into a greater happiness and joy. It is also a strong creative stimulant providing an opening to inspiration and the energy to bring our visions to reality. In color therapy Orange is used for a variety of breathing and lung problems such as asthma and bronchitis. Orange has an anti-depressant and anti-lethargic effect strengthening the metabolism and promoting health.

Orange light at 590 nm is used for its healing, draining and detoxifying properties.  It is absorbed by the body fluids in the lymph and blood circulatory systems and promotes wound healing.  Yellow light also increases lymphatic flow to evacuate more waste products and boosts cellular activity.

Chakra: Swadisthana
Location: Over the spleen
Endocrine Association: Ovaries

  • A pair of female sex organs located on both sides of the uterus
  • Responsible for producing eggs and the female sex hormones estrogen and progesterone. It also produces the hormone inhibin which helps to regular egg development.
  • Ovaries help to develop and maintain female sexual behavior and sustain pregnancy.

Possible diseases/disorders resulting from ovaries malfunction:

  • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) – this is a condition caused by the overproduction of male hormones within the body. PCOS can have a negative effect on menstruation, hormone levels, fertility and cause facial hair growth and acne. PCOS can also cause multiple cysts on the ovaries.
  • Premature menopause – This can occur when a woman experiences menopause unnaturally by having her ovaries removed. It may also occur if a woman is undergoing certain chemotherapy treatment, especially those used to treat breast cancer.
  • Osteoporosis – A condition that breaks down bone mass, causing bones to become weak and brittle, making them easier to break. Women who are in menopause are at a higher risk of osteoporosis because they are no longer producing estrogen.
  • Endometriosis – this is a common condition that affects a woman’s reproductive area. Endometriosis occurs when tissue that is similar to the uterus lining forms outside the uterus. This often creates cysts and tumors on the ovaries known as ednometriomas. Endometriosis can be a painful condition and may affect a woman’s fertility, making it difficult for her to become pregnant or infertile.
  • Ovarian cysts – There are many different types of cysts that affect the ovaries including: functional cysts, dermoid cysts, and cystadenomas. These tumors are small, fluid-like sacs that develop on the ovary and are often harmless. Although they are not cancerous, they can create complications such as causing the ovary to twist, and sometimes severe pain in the abdomen if they burst.
  • Ovarian cancer – A malignant tumor on the ovary that is often difficult to treat as symptoms usually don’t appear until the later stages of the disease. Ovarian cancer is more common in women over 50 and is a serious form of cancer that can be difficult to treat.
