The Color Red and the Human Being

Red is used in Color Therapy when life forces need to be stimulated or renewed. Red is a strong physical stimulant that will help restore vitality, courage and self-confidence. Red activates blood circulation and the sympathetic nervous system. It helps with problems of the sensory nerves - hearing, taste, smell, vision and touch. Red stimulates the metabolism and purification.

- A pair of glands located directly above both kidneys
- Adrenal glands are in charge of the production of a number of hormones such as adrenaline and norepinephrine.
Possible diseases/disorders resulting from adrenal glands malfunction:
- Hypertension – high blood pressure.
- Pheochromoctyoma – a condition associated with high blood pressure that occurs when a rare tumor forms within the center of the gland causing it to produce extreme amounts of adrenaline and norepinephrine.
- Cushing’s disease - disorder that causes fat to accumulate in the face, chest and back
- Cancer – cancer in the adrenal gland occurs when there is an overproduction of hormones.

- A pair of male sex organs located inside the scrotum (the sacks of skin behind the penis)
- The testes are responsible for producing sperm and the male sex hormone testosterone.
Possible diseases/disorders resulting from testes malfunction:
- Testicular cancer – When a malignant tumor forms within the testicle (can affect one or both testes) from abnormal cells that divide and grow without control. This is a rare form of cancer but is often successfully treated.
- Epididymitis - Condition that occurs when the epididymis (tube that lies around each testicle) becomes inflamed. The inflammation is usually caused by an infection and often by Chlamydia, a sexually transmitted disease. If left untreated it can cause scar tissue to form and cause fertility problems.
- Hypogonadisim – Condition that occurs when not enough testosterone is produced. This is usually caused from an abnormality within the testicles. Hypogonadisim can result in erectile dysfunction, decreased sex drive, mental and emotional symptoms similar to those experienced by menopausal women, and infertility. The following is a list of conditions that can lead to hypogonadism:
o Hemochromatosis – too much iron in the blood can cause malfunction of the testicles or pituitary gland
o Undescended testicles
o Testicular trauma
o Medications that affect testosterone production
o Certain chemotherapy treatment for cancer
